Title will be an Xbox 360 exclusive at launch

DENVER -- The creators of "Rock Band" will release the game's sequel, "Rock Band 2," in September, adding to a host of music-related video games coming out in time for the holidays.

Publisher MTV and developer Harmonix did not reveal many details of the new game, only that there will be new and "improved" drum and guitar controllers, a larger soundtrack, and new online modes and customization options.

As expected, any songs that were bought and downloaded through the Rock Band Store will remain compatible with the new title, as will all older instrument controls.

"Rock Band 2" will be an Xbox 360 exclusive at launch, but will expand to other consoles before the end of the year.

The company also revealed that is has sold more than 15 million songs through the game since it's release last year.
