Rod Davis promoted at SPE

Will handle music business affairs

Rod Davis has been promoted to vp music business affairs at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Reporting to Shelly Bunge, exec vp of the studio's Music Affairs Group, he is responsible for handling music transactions for SPE, handling negotiations for composers, artists and soundtrack album agreements for feature films, television series, game shows and interstitial works.

He also supervises the music licensing for film and television products and "added value" materials for DVD releases and participates in union negotiations with the American Federation of Musicians as a music representative on behalf of Columbia Pictures.

Davis joined SPE in 1999. Before that, he was senior counsel for MGM, where he handled music transactions and dealt with issues regarding music rights, exploitation and infringement.
