The movie will mark the writer and longtime Sacha Baron Cohen collaborator's big-screen directorial debut.

LONDON -- Dan Mazer’s couple comedy I Give It a Year, with Rose Byrne, Anna Faris, Rafe Spall, Stephen Merchant and Simon Baker aboard, is set to begin filming next month.

The project, backed by StudioCanal and made by British production banner Working Title Films, will shoot in and around central London at the end of April.

The project, which charts the trials and tribulations of a young couple during the first year of marriage, marks Mazer’s feature debut. His résumé boasts writing and producing credits on Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Bruno.

StudioCanal is bankrolling the movie for Working Title; it most recently collaborated with the British banner on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner produce with Kris Thykier (The Debt).

Debra Hayward and Liza Chasin will serve as executive producers.

The backers are aiming for a Valentine’s Day release date in 2013 in the U.K.

International sales will be handled by StudioCanal.
