As if he rose from a crypt

For Hammer Films, it's a new look, new investment and an old friend.

Christopher Lee has signed to star alongside Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Antti J. Jokinen's directorial debut, "Invasion of Privacy" (previously titled "The Resident").

Backed by Exclusive Media Group, the parent company of Hammer Films and Spitfire Pictures, the film reunites Lee with Hammer Prods., for whom he starred in a slew of gothic horror pictures in the 1960s and '70s.

The new Hammer is a very different undertaking as part of Exclusive, which in turn is backed by the strategic investment group Cyrte Investments.

Exclusive Film Distribution, which debuted to buyers in February during the European Film Market in Berlin, will sell the movie at the Marche du Film in Cannes this month.

The movie centers on a woman who, after separating from her husband, moves into a loft apartment in Brooklyn and finds herself the object of unwanted attention.

Producing for Hammer are Simon Oakes, Nigel Sinclair and Guy East. Cary Brokaw will also produce. Hammer's Tobin Armbrust and Alex Brunner will exec produce with Tom Lassally of 3 Arts Entertainment and Swank. (partialdiff)
