Rose on roster for CAA Sports

Blue-chip basketball agent Leon Rose has joined CAA Sports to helm its basketball representation business, the agency said Monday.

The move, which had been widely expected, brings NBA superstars LeBron James and Allen Iverson into CAA's fold. The agency has beefed up its sports division in recent months and has bought the practices of several power agents who rep high-profile football and baseball players. But in Rose's case, CAA hired the 12-year veteran agent rather than buying the New Jersey-based law firm Sherman, Silverstein, Kohl, Rose and Podolsky, where he was a partner.

Rose, a one-time trial lawyer and prosecutor, adds a key component to CAA's burgeoning sports division. The Century City agency is stocked on the football, baseball and hockey front but was missing a big-name basketball handler. Rose will be based in CAA's New York offices.

"The vast resources CAA provides will surely create many new and unique opportunities for our existing and future basketball clients," Rose said about the agency's far-reaching tentacles in the entertainment industry.
