Roven gets smart ShoWest nod


"Get Smart" producer Charles Roven will be honored as producer of the year at ShoWest 2008.

Roven, also a producer on the upcoming Batman film "The Dark Knight," will be feted March 13 at the awards gala set to close the exhibition confab. ShoWest begins March 10 at the Bally's and Paris hotels in Las Vegas.

"With more than two decades in film, Charles Roven has proved himself to be one of the most dynamic and successful producers of his time," Sho¬West co-managing director Mitch Neu¬hauser said. "From the excitement of such films as 'Three Kings' and 'Batman Begins,' to the romantic fantasy of 'City of Angels' (and) comedy of the 'Scooby-Doo' series, Roven has brought an unparalleled sensibility to the world of production."

Roven began his career as a talent manager before co-founding Atlas Entertainment and its affiliated company Atlas/Third Rail Management, which became part of Mosaic Media Group in 1999. His next release is the heist thriller "The Bank Job," directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows. "Bank" will be released by Lionsgate on March 7.
