LONDON –  Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, Jim Broadbent, David Tennant and Stephen Mangan are all to deliver an all–star voice cast for a big-screen version of British children’s TV show Postman Pat.

The movie version, Postman Pat: The Movie -- You Know You're the One, is a collaboration between Classic Media and Rubicon Group Holding and is being made as part of the character’s 30th birthday celebrations.

The picture is set for production this month with a planned 3D theatrical release for spring 2013.

Mangan plays Pat in a screenplay penned by Kim Full and Annika Bluhm, longtime producer of the Postman Pat TV series.

It details the story of Postman Pat coming face-to-face with the temptations of money, status and a shiny new suit when he enters a national TV talent show competition that threatens to tear him away from his hometown of Greendale and the friends he loves.

Grint said he used to watch Postman Pat when he was a small boy.

Postman Pat is one of those British symbols, I suppose -- you are totally familiar with him and his cat, Jess even if you have never watched the series.  How exciting to be part of the Postman Pat heritage,” said Grint.

Directed by Mike Disa the movie is being produced by RGH’s Robert Anich and Miles Horst and Classic Media’s Ceri Barnes and Annika Bluhm, with Rubicon’s Randa Ayoubi and David Corbett and Classic Media’s Eric Ellenbogen and Doug Schwalbe taking exec producer roles.

Ralph Kamp’s Timeless Films is managing worldwide sales with Icon Film Distribution hoping it delivers at the box office when it releases the film in the U.K. and Eire.
