Russell Brand Doc to Get Theatrical Release Via Ignite Channel
Ondi Timoner's film about the comedian and activist debuted at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
Ignite Channel, the San Francisco Bay Area-based distributor that focuses on documentaries, has acquired North American rights to Brand: A Second Coming, Ondi Timoner’s film about comedian and activist Russell Brand.
The film, which is to receive a theatrical release, opened the 2015 South by Southwest Film Festival and also played the Los Angeles Film Festival. It is being presented by Interloper Films in association with Mayfair Film Partnership and was produced by Timoner and executive produced by Andrew Antonio.
Steve Brown, CEO of Ignite, which recently released the documentary Occupy the Farm, said, "When we brought Occupy the Farm to theaters around the country, we were surprised to hear Russell Brand mentioned by activists everywhere we went. Ondi Timoner's remarkable film captures Brand's highly personal and often painful transformation from Hollywood star to progressive activist concerned with ordinary people standing up for justice in their communities."
The film’s producers were repped by WME Global.
