NFL Star Russell Wilson Signs With WME (Exclusive)
The agency also will represent the Seattle Seahawks quarterback's media and production company, West2East Empire.
NFL star Russell Wilson has signed with WME, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The agency also will represent his media and production company, West2East Empire, in areas including film, television (scripted and nonscripted), animation, voiceover and digital. Wilson's attorney, Frontline Athlete Management's Mark Rodgers, will continue to negotiate his playing and marketing contracts.
Wilson is the most successful quarterback in Seattle Seahawks history, leading the team to two straight Super Bowls, including its first-ever title in 2013. He also holds the league record for the most regular-season wins by a QB in his first six seasons (65) and the most single-season passing touchdowns by a rookie (26, in 2012), and he is behind only the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers with the highest NFL passer rating of all time (98.8).
Wilson's winning on-field record and genial personality earned him the league's top-selling jersey in 2014 and 2015, as well as partnerships with brands such as Nike, Alaska Airlines, Bose, Braun, Duracell, Microsoft and Wilson Sporting Goods (no relation). He also has hosted Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Sports Awards three times.
Wilson's West2East, where he serves as CEO, is looking to develop show ideas centered on competition-related, historical or faith-based themes, as Wilson is a strong Christian. His other enterprises include men's lifestyle apparel line Good Man Brand and TraceMe, a social platform that connects fans to celebrities and counts Jeff Bezos, Alibaba's Joe Tsai, YouTube's Chad Hurley, Dick Clark Productions' Mike Mahan and Wheels Up's Kenny Dichter among its investors.
Wilson and his wife, Ciara, also co-founded the nonprofit The Why Not You Foundation, which focuses on empowering youth.
