Pixels Still 5 - H 2015
'Ant-Man' and 'Minions' finish in top three.
Pixels became the weekend’s box-office champion in Russia, although its gross fell short of predictions.
Columbia's action comedy was the weekend's top grosser, raking in 146 million rubles ($2.6 million). The figure, though, fell short of 190 million rubles ($3.2 million), which local trade journal Exhibitors' Bulletin predicted.
The movie was followed by Ant-Man, which took in 110.5 million rubles ($1.9 million) in its second weekend. Ant-Man's weekend gross in the country declined by 59 percent from its debut weekend.
Minions took third place, and although the Despicable Me prequel only added 100 million rubles ($1.8 million) to its gross, it remained the year's third-top-grossing movie, after Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Minions' release in the country also marks the best opening-weekend record of all time.
In fourth place was The Gallows, taking in 49 million rubles ($859,348), followed by Paper Towns, with 28 million rubles ($491,985). Both movies' grosses surpassed predictions.
Just one Russian movie, Goroskop na udachu (A Horoscope for Luck), made the top 10, finishing in eighth place with 8 million rubles ($144,000) during its second weekend in theaters.
The only other non-Hollywood film in the top 10 was the French movie Un moment d'egarement (One Wild Moment), starring Vincent Cassel.
