Russian Animated Franchise 'The Snow Queen' Enlists Disney Writer
Robert Lence will be working on the third installment of the franchise, scheduled to be released in 2016.
Former Walt Disney story writer Robert Lence has joined the scriptwriters' team of the third installment in the international franchise The Snow Queen.
In collaboration with director Aleksey Tsitsilin, Lence is set to contribute to the script of The Snow Queen 3, said Wizart Animation, the franchise's production company.
"This film is a great piece of entertainment: good classic storytelling in its tradition, good characters, stories that go very deep, take at the heart — Snow Queen has it all," Lence said in Wizart Animation's statement.
"I think it was a big jump from Snow Queen to Snow Queen 2," he added. "And I'm sure the third installment is going to see a great jump as well. I was impressed with the level of artistry of [the] Wizart team. It's a very high level of animation."
"Our aim is to bring every new Wizart project to a new level in terms of story and quality of CG," said producer Yury Moskvin. "So, I'm sure Robert’s presence would be an invaluable contribution to the new Snow Queen story."
Lence's credits include Beauty and the Beast, A Bug's Life, Home on the Range, Toy Story and Shrek.
The Snow Queen is one of Russia's most successful international animation franchises. Its first two installments have been sold to 130 countries, grossing $30 million worldwide.
The third installment is scheduled for release in 2016.
