SAG Awards 2012: Maya Rudolph, Allison Janney Wear Jewelry Designer Kimberly McDonald's Earrings
McDonald uses geodes and natural stones combined with diamonds for her unusual and anti-cliche jewelry.
When Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph took to the stage at the SAGs with co-stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, they were all doing a big gag on being drunk and disorderly as presenters. But nothing could have been further from the truth: when the camera cut to Rudolph in a close up, she was wearing a really chic peplum dress, a lovely bohemian hair style and amazing and unique earrings.
The earrings were black shiney drop ovals that are cross-sections of geodes, large crystals in the earth. They shine and glisten like nothing else, and they're cooler than diamonds while showing much more individuality.
It's interesting how we're seeing much more variation on jewelry on the red carpet thsi season. Michelle Williams hardly wears any. We've seen more earrings out of emerald and sapphire and garnet, and less pieces, but statement pieces. Dangly earrings are definitely back, particularly when an actress pulls her hair back. Allison Janney from The Help had on Kimberly McDonald's bright blue earrings as well.
McDonald is bicoastal, and her jewelry is in Neimans and Bergdorf Goodman. She's also had jewelry on Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer on the red carpet, and her jewelry's collected by Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock.
