SAG Award Nominations: 'The Post,' 'Phantom Thread,' 'The Good Place' Snubbed

While some awards hopefuls rebounded after being left out of Golden Globe nominations Monday ('The Big Sick,' 'Veep,' 'Orange Is the New Black'), others were shut out, including the NBC sitcom starring SAG Awards host Kristen Bell.

When the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were announced Wednesday morning, Oscar hopeful The Big Sick rebounded after being shut out of Monday's Golden Globe nominations, with two SAG Award nods, but other films were left out.

Movies that failed to receive any SAG Award nominations include late December releases The Post and Phantom Thread, which each earned multiple Globe nominations and have been recognized by numerous other groups. Fellow multiple Globe nominees shut out by SAG include The Greatest Showman, Molly's Game, Dunkirk (save for a stunt nomination) and All the Money in the World, which was not screened for the SAG Awards nominating committee, likely due to last-minute reshoots.

After being ignored by the Globes, Beauty and the Beast, Girls Trip (including star Tiffany Haddish), Stronger (including star Jake Gyllenhaal), Wonder and Wonder Woman also failed to earn any SAG Awards nominations, except for a stunt nod for Wonder Woman. As with the Globes, Downsizing and The Florida Project each only earned one nomination, in the supporting categories, for Hong Chau and Willem Dafoe, respectively.

The following high-profile Oscar contenders and multiple Globe nominees only earned one SAG Award nomination each: Call Me by Your Name, The Disaster Artist and Darkest Hour. And those films were left out of SAG's best picture equivalent award: best ensemble. Leading Globes nominee, The Shape of Water, also failed to earn a best ensemble nod but received two other nominations.

Individual snubs include Kate Winslet, Annette Bening and Jennifer Lawrence for their roles in Wonder Wheel, Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool and mother!, respectively.

On the TV side, Veep, Orange Is the New Black and Curb Your Enthusiasm rebounded from their Globes shutouts with two nominations each. But the SAG Awards continued to ignore recent seasons of The Americans, Insecure, Girls, Transparent, Mindhunter, The Deuce, The Good Fight, Silicon Valley and The Good Place, the latter despite star Kristen Bell being named the first host of the upcoming SAG Awards ceremony.

Also while Robin Wright was nominated for her work on House of Cards, Kevin Spacey, who's won past SAG Awards for his work on the Netflix series he's being written out of, was not.

9 a.m. PT: This story has been updated to state that, indeed, All the Money in the World wasn't screened for the SAG Awards nominating committee, and to include Insecure and Kevin Spacey in the TV snubs.
