Salma Hayek develops reality series

Merv Griffin Entertainment in for wedding-themed show

Salma Hayek has teamed up with Merv Griffin Entertainment to develop a wedding-themed reality series.

Roy Bank, president of television at Merv Griffin Entertainment, said the hourlong project is being shopped to both broadcast and cable networks.

While the format is being kept under wraps, "this is not a docu soap," Bank said. "The format is steeped in reality -- it's not contrived. It's a unique storytelling angle on weddings that has never been seen on television before."

Bank and Hayek would executive produce with Jose Tamez, Hayek's producing partner in her Ventanarosa Prods.

Bank added that the project is based on an original idea of Hayek, who brought the concept to his company.

"I was flattered that she would bring me anything -- she's such a fabulous producer -- and I jumped at it," Bank said.
