Sam Smith, Iggy Azalea in Clive Davis Grammy Party Class Photo (Exclusive)
For the 39th year, on the eve of music's biggest night, Sony Music's chief creative officer curated a surprise list of performers, photographed exclusively here, for his private A-list party: "It's overwhelming to look at all these people I've always admired musically; I never get used to it," says Jennifer Hudson.
This story first appeared in the Feb. 20 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
A year ago, Iggy Azalea had to sneak into Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Gala. "I stole a ticket from T.I.," says the Australian rapper of the event at The Beverly Hilton, presented each year by Davis. For the 2015 edition held Feb. 7, however, the invitation had her name on it, along with those of moguls (Sony/ATV’s Martin Bandier and Big Machine Records’ Scott Borchetta), tech giants (Apple’s Tim Cook), politicos (Al Gore), sports stars (Magic Johnson, who dedicated a moment of silence to Bobbi Kristina Brown) and, of course, artists (Sam Smith, Pharrell Williams, Pentatonix).
Says gala regular Jennifer Hudson: "It’s overwhelming to look at all these people I’ve always admired musically. I never get used to it. It’s new every time."
