Sampson leaves Foxtel for Nine

SYDNEY- Les Sampson, head of acquisitions at paynet Foxtel has resigned to take up a new position with broadcaster, the Nine Network, Nine announced Tuesday.

Sampson has been appointed to the role of director of acquisitions, daytime programming and digital television at Nine where he’ll be responsible for strengthening the network’s programming for digital multi-channeling and high-definition development. He will also be responsible for the network’s business strategy in both acquisitions and daytime programming, Nine said in a statement.

Sampson will report to Nine director of programming Michael Healy. His appointment has been made as Nine is engaged in a ferocious ratings battle with number one network, Seven, and as it readies a new high-definition channel, following Seven and Network Ten’s launches of new HD channels in December.
