Oprah Winfrey, Ava DuVernay and fellow members of Hollywood shared their reactions on social media.

On July 26, 43-year-old Samuel DuBose was shot in the head and killed by University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing when he was pulled over during a traffic stop. Officer Tensing was indicted on Wednesday on a murder charge for DuBose and, if convicted, could be sentenced to prison for life.

DuBose was pulled over because he was missing a front license plate and was unable to provide his license when asked. When DuBose refused to get out of his vehicle during the stop, tensions escalated and Tensing drew his gun and shot DuBose in the head.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said in a press conference on Wednesday that "this is the most asinine act I've ever seen a police officer make. Totally unwarranted. It's an absolute tragedy in the year 2015 that anyone would behave in this manner."

Oprah Winfrey, Ava DuVernay and rapper Big Boi are among Hollywood A-listers who shared their reactions to the indictment on social media.
