Samuel L. Jackson to Receive Lifetime Honor From Dubai International Film Festival

The 13th edition of the Middle East's biggest film event is set to open Dec. 7 with 'Miss Sloane' and close eight days later with 'Rogue One.'

Samuel L. Jackson will add to his awards cabinet next month following a trip to the Middle East. 

The actor has been tapped to receive the Dubai International Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award, it was announced Monday. He joins a growing list of recipients, which includes the likes of Omar Sharif, Oliver Stone, Terry Gilliam, Shah Rukh Khan and Martin Sheen.

Jackson will be honored during the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the festival on Dec. 7, and he also is set to take part in a special In Conversation event on Dec. 9.

"It's a great honor to be given the Dubai international Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award," said Jackson, whose upcoming films including Kong: Skull Island. "It's wonderful to be included into the Emirates' film community, and I look forward to meeting all of its amazing filmmakers and making many new friends."

The Dubai fest, the biggest film event in the Middle East, is set to open with the Jessica Chastain-toplined lobbying drama Miss Sloane and close with Star Wars spinoff Rogue One on Dec. 14. Other titles in the 156 film-strong lineup include Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, Their Finest, The Founder, La La Land, A Monster Calls and Manchester by the Sea. Visiting guests alongside Jackson include Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia (Amy), Will Poulter, Melanie Griffith and Eva Longoria.
