'London Road'

The Spanish festival takes place Sept. 18-26.

The 63rd edition of Spain's San Sebastian Film Festival will screen Rufus Norris' British drama London Road as its closing film.

The feature, an adaptation of the musical of the same name, is based on real-life events in Suffolk in 2006, when the quiet town of Ipswich was shaken by the discovery of the bodies of five murdered women. London Road stars an ensemble cast that includes Olivia Colman, Clare Burt, Rosalie Craig, Anita Dobson, James Doherty and Tom Hardy. It will screen out of competition in San Sebastian.

The festival previously announced the movies that will compete for its Golden Shell award.

The Spanish festival will this year also shine the spotlight on Japanese independent film and celebrate the works of Hollywood Golden Age filmmakers Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack (King Kong) in a retrospective.
