Santa Barbara Film Festival to Launch Acquisitions-Geared Program to Attract Buyers
Working with Traction Media, it will highlight films available for distribution during its first weekend.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival is making a bid to attract the attention of film buyers.
The fest – its next edition runs from Jan. 26 to Feb. 5 – is launching its first ever Acquisitions Program, which will take place over the weekend of Jan. 27-29.
As outlined by SBIFF executibe director Roger Durling, the program will be run in association with Traction Media, a Los Angeles-based film production and sales company, and was created to allow the acquisitions community industry-friendly access to films at SBIFF. Together, SBIFF and Traction will select the films to be presented in the program, and buyers will be afforded priority access to the chosen films.
Doug Stone, president of the SBIFF Board and a principal of Traction Media, said, “Over the years, SBIFF has continuously showcased an incredibly high caliber film program, one that has left a lasting impression with the audience. We are eager to now be able to shine a spotlight on these films for the acquisitions community.”
The festival has set a Dec. 9 deadline for film submission, which can be submitted through withoutabox.com.
