Golden Globes: Saoirse Ronan Wins Best Actress for 'Lady Bird'

"I just want to say how inspirational it's been to be in this room tonight," the actress said during her acceptance speech.

Saoirse Ronan took home the Golden Globe for best performance by an actress in a motion picture, comedy or musical on Sunday night for Lady Bird.

Ronan beat out Judi Dench (Victoria & Abdul), Helen Mirren (The Leisure Seeker), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), and Emma Stone (Battle of the Sexes).

"My mom's on FaceTime over there on someone's phone right now," the actress immediately quipped onstage, waving to her mother, who was unable to attend the ceremony.

During her speech, the Lady Bird star was quick to thank the film's cast and crew, as well as "all of the women" in her life that give her unconditional support and love.

Despite the celebratory moment, Ronan also took time to express how humbled she felt to be a part of the Globes' "inspirational" environment. "I just want to say how inspirational it's been to be in this room tonight," she said.

Seth Meyers hosted the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place at the Beverly Hilton.
