Sarah Jessica Parker to Star in Romantic Comedy 'All Roads Lead to Rome'

AMBI Pictures and Paradox Studios are producing the Italy-set film

Sarah Jessica Parker is getting back into the romantic comedy business. The Sex and the City star has signed on for the lead in All Roads Lead to Rome for AMBI Pictures and Paradox Studios.

Ella Lemhagen (The Crown Jewels) is directing from a screenplay by Cindy Meyers, Josh Appignanesi and Lemhagen. Principal photography will begin later this month in Rome.

The movie centers on uptight Maggie (Parker) and her former Italian lover, Luca, who go on a road trip across Italy pursuing Maggie's rebellious teenage daughter who tries desperately to return to New York while Luca's mother is on a secret mission of love.

AMBI principals Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi and Paradox's Mikael Wiren are financing the film. Iervolino and Bacardi are producing alongside Paradox's Silvio Muraglia. Wiren is executive producing

AMBI Group worldwide sales arm AMBI Distribution, headed by Julie Sultan, will handle international sales.

"We've been looking for a very commercial romantic comedy to add to our slate and immediately knew we found exactly what we were looking for when we read All Roads Lead to Rome," Iervolino said. "The film is a perfect vehicle for Sarah, an extraordinary actress who has such an authentic connection with audiences."

Founded in 2013, AMBI's slate includes the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Andron: The Black Labyrinth, starring Alec Baldwin and Danny Glover; the Barry Levinson-directed drama The Humbling, starring Al Pacino; and the crime thriller Hope Lost, starring Danny Trejo, Mischa Barton and Michael Madsen.

Paradox's recent credits include Reclaim, starring John CusackJacki Weaver and Ryan Phillippe, which was released on Sept. 19 by Lionsgate. The company also financed the Sundance breakout Ain't Them Bodies Saints, starring Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck, and the Samuel L. Jackson and Dominic Cooper thriller Reasonable Doubt

Parker is repped by CAA.
