The 'Sex and the City' star will play a New York chanteuse who wrestles with the implications of a serious health diagnosis.

Sarah Jessica Parker is taking the mic for an untitled drama that sees her reteaming with AMBI Pictures.

The Sex and the City star will play a singer in the film that she developed and will produce. House of Cards writer Laura Eason wrote the screenplay.

Parker, who previously collaborated with AMBI’s Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi on the romantic comedy All Roads Lead to Rome, will sing in the role. But the actress is no stranger to the genre: As a child, she starred in the Broadway musical Annie.

For the AMBI drama, Parker will play a New York chanteuse named Vivienne who wrestles with the implications of a serious health diagnosis.

On board to direct is Fabien Constant, who has helmed several documentaries about cinema and pop culture, including Mademoiselle C, as well as commercials and shorts for luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent Paris and L’Oreal Paris.

In addition to starring in the film, Parker also will serve as producer alongside Alison Benson, Iervolino and Bacardi. The project was developed by Parker and Benson at Pretty Matches Prods., and is being fully financed by AMBI Group.

The film is set to begin shooting this winter in New York.

AMBI Distribution is handling international sales and will be introducing the project to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival. CAA, which arranged for the film’s financing, will co-represent domestic distribution rights with AMBI.

AMBI’s upcoming slate includes heist movie Finding Steve McQueen, starring Travis Fimmel, Kate Bosworth, William Fichtner and Forest Whitaker, as well as James Franco’s post-apocalyptic thriller Future World, starring Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu, Method Man, Suki Waterhouse, Snoop Dogg and Franco.

Parker, whose new HBO series Divorce is set to premiere in October, is repped by CAA and Schreck Rose.

Eason, a Brooklyn-based screenwriter and playwright who is in her fourth season on House of Cards, is handled by WME and Writ Large.
