Sarah Palin supports Bristol at 'DWTS'

Politician praises dancers, demurs when asked about judges

Sarah Palin showed up Monday at the "Dancing With the Stars" ballroom to support her daughter Bristol, a contestant on the show.

The former vice-presidential candidate, who was interviewed briefly by show host Tom Bergeron, called her daughter "Bristol the pistol" and praised the "courage, joy and exuberance" of all the dancers.

But when asked her opinion about the ABC show's judges, Palin demurred.

"It's like a hockey game: You're not going to chew out the refs before your team is up," she said.

Bristol Palin was the night's final performer, receiving 22 out of 30 points for her quickstep with professional partner Mark Ballas.

So what's it like to have her mom in the audience?

"It's awesome," the 19-year-old said.
