Schnabel helping Par with 'Guru'
EmptyMarco Schnabel is reteaming with Mike Myers as director of Paramount Pictures' self-help comedy "The Love Guru."
Schnabel, a former below-the-line crew member mostly as a second unit director, worked with Myers on all three Austin Powers films. "Love Guru" will mark his directorial debut.
The film, which Myers co-wrote with Graham Gordy, centers on a self-help guru named Pitka who is called upon to solve a couple's romantic problems. Like Myers' Austin Powers creation, Pitka was workshopped by Myers at several theaters in Manhattan.
Mike De Luca is producing alongside Myers.
Pam Abdy is overseeing for Paramount, which is eyeing an August start date. "Love Guru" is set for a June 2008 release.
"This team is a dream come true," De Luca said. "I'm thrilled. I have wanted to work with Marco Schnabel for years. He is insanely talented."
Schnabel is repped by CAA, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorneys Adam Kaller and Nigel McNulty.
