Screenwriter Scott Kasdin Dies at 62

He co-wrote the 2010 Jeffrey Tambor comedy film 'Meeting Spencer.'

Scott Kasdin, who co-wrote the screenplay for the 2010 independent comedy Meeting Spencer, starring Jeffrey Tambor, has died. He was 62.

Kasdin died Sept. 6 of esophageal cancer in Providence, R.I., his friend, Adam Neuhaus, announced.

Meeting Spencer, which starred future Transparent star Tambor as a Hollywood director looking to make a comeback on Broadway, won the best screenplay award at the 2012 Milan International Film Festival.

A native of Miami Beach, Florida, Kasdin "spent his Hollywood career doing punch-ups on scripts and was truly a colorful, old school roguish type of writer," Neuhaus said.

Survivors include his partner Carol, daughters Channing and Dylan, brother Neisen and nephews Julian and Eric.
