Screenwriting pals ink ABC Studios deal

Loosely autobiographical script from 'Legally Blonde' duo

Screenwriters Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith have sold a script to ABC Studios that treads familiar ground. For them, that is.

The duo, repped by Paradigm, Jaret Entertainment and Warren Dern, has strung together an enviable series of feature hits: "10 Things I Hate About You," "Legally Blonde" and "Ella Enchanted," and Wednesday night they attended the premiere of their newest comedy, "The House Bunny," which opens Friday.

Several months ago, Lutz and Smith's loopy champagne-and-therapy-fueled creative process came to light in an L.A Times column. ABC Studios, among others, apparently noticed and approached the two about spinning something out of it.

Now, ABC Studios has their loosely autobiographical script and is developing a series around what it calls "their friendship, partnership and (mis)adventures in Hollywood."
