Where to See This Year's Coachella Acts (Without Going to the Festival)

Can't make it to this year's fest? 70 music acts will also be performing in Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Diego and other Southern California cities during Coachella's two-weekend run.

On April 10, more than 150 performers — Florence + the Machine, The Weeknd and David Guetta, among them — will head to Indio, Calif., to kick off weekend one of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. But for those who can't make it to this year's festivities, don't fret -- 70 artists booked for Coachella will be playing additional shows in SoCal next week despite Coachella's notorious ban on outside performances in nearby areas.

For years since Coachella was first established in 1999, huge music acts have been booked to play at the desert fest — but with a catch. Under contractual agreement, Coachella's "radius clause" doesn't allow artists who are scheduled to perform during the event to play shows in nearby venues (within a certain distance from the city of Indio) for an extended period of time before, during and after the festival's two-weekend run. The main exception to the rule being, of course, if the shows are held at a venue sponsored by or otherwise affiliated with festival promoter Goldenvoice.

Whether Coachella has bent the rules or eased restrictions, this year, close to one third of the performers scheduled to play during the fest are also hosting shows in various venues across Southern California — Hollywood, the greater Los Angeles area, San Diego and Pioneertown being among the cities many artists will be hitting.

Though headliners AC/DC, Drake and Jack White won't be performing in any surrounding areas for months beyond Coachella's closing date, music fans can catch other acts at Club Nokia, Shrine Expo Hall, Sound Nightclub and other concert venues within the upcoming days.

Reps at Coachella and Goldenvoice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
