The duo will also produce the Columbia Pictures comedy, which will shoot locally in their hometown until just before Christmas.

TORONTO -- Seth Rogen is to direct and star in The Interview for Columbia Pictures in his hometown, Vancouver.

The comedy, which reteams Rogen with James Franco, will shoot on location in British Columbia from Oct. 10 through Dec. 20.

Rogen will direct with Evan Goldberg, his longtime collaborator with whom he wrote the screenplay for The Interview.

The studio pic will see Vancouver stand in for New York and North Korea as the comedy portrays a talk-show host and his producer who find themselves out of their depths when they participate in a plot to assassinate the prime minister of North Korea.

James Weaver is co-producing the picture with Rogen and Goldberg.

Shawn Williamson and Dan Sterling are executive producing.

Rogen, Goldberg and Sterling are repped by UTA.

Franco is handled by CAA.
