The movie, about five suburban couples, should hit theaters in 2015

Magnolia Pictures has picked up North American rights to The Little Death, Australian writer-director Josh Lawson’s sex comedy that premiered at the recent Toronto International Film Festival.

The movie, which looks at five suburban couples, stars Damon Herriman, Bojana Novakovic, Kate Mulvany and Lawson. It was produced by Jamie Hilton, Michael Petroni and Matt Reeder for See Pictures, and executive produced by Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Josh Pomeranz, Viv Scanu and Stephen Boyle.

The deal was negotiated by Magnolia vp acquisitions Peter Van Steemburg with UTA Independent Film Group and Level K repping the filmmakers. Lawson is repped by UTA, Management 360 and Lisa Mann at LMCM in Australia.

The Little Death is a terrifically funny film that elegantly walks the line between shockingly funny sex humor and a warmly affectionate look at adult relationships,” said Eamonn Bowles, president of Magnolia, which is eyeing a 2015 release for the film.
