'Sex' writer-producer joins Showtime series

Jenny Bicks to serve as exec producer/showrunner on 'Big C'

"Sex and the City" writer-producer Jenny Bicks has joined Showtime's upcoming comedy series "The Big C" as executive producer/showrunner.

Also joining the Laura Linney starrer is another "Sex and the City" alum, director-producer Michael Engler, who will serve as co-exec producer.

Bill Condon directed the pilot for "The Big C," from Sony TV and Original, which stars Linney as a suburban wife and mother whose cancer diagnosis forces her to shake up her life.

Oliver Platt co-stars on the series, created by Darlene Hunt.

Bicks and Hunt are exec producing with Linney, Neal Moritz and Vivian Cannon.

Following her tenure on HBO's "Sex," Bicks created and executive produced the ABC dramedy "Men in Trees."
