'Shameless' Star Sammi Hanratty Praises Director Emmy Rossum | In Studio
“I’ve only worked with a handful of female directors, so to have her be one of the first that I’ve worked with was really awesome.”
Sammi Hanratty, who plays Cassidy on Showtime’s Shameless, opened up about the surreal experience of becoming the character to The Hollywood Reporter recently. "This was a huge deal to me. When I found out I got this show, I was literally sobbing and so happy. It’s just really cool to be able to be on a show that I love so much,” said the actress.
As if being a part of her favorite series wasn’t incredible enough, Hanratty got the opportunity to work with Emmy Rossum as the Shameless star stepped behind the camera to direct an episode of the current eighth season.
Hanratty had nothing but praise for the tyro helmer: “I was super impressed with her, both directing and also being in it. She was kind of running all around, but she was fantastic and really great.”
Added Hanratty, “I’ve only worked with a handful of female directors, so to have her be one of the first that I’ve worked with was really awesome.”
