Shania Twain Boards Scott Borchetta's Singing Competition Series as Mentor
The country superstar joins Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder on 'The Launch,' shooting in Toronto.
Shania Twain has boarded Scott Borchetta's TV singing competition series, which is being shot in Toronto.
The country superstar joins Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, assisting fellow mentors, including Borchetta, on The Launch, a six-part talent search series that sees unsigned musicians battle to create the next chart-topping song.
Twain earlier this year joined The Voice to help prepare top season 12 artists alongside coaches Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. The Launch producers are also set to shop a format to international buyers.
Twain, a five-time Grammy award-winning artist, turns out to be the marquee Canadian singer the producers earlier promised as a third mentor. "We are honored to welcome this stellar, category-defying, homegrown talent on board The Launch," Bell Media president Randy Lennox, a co-producer on the series, said in a statement.
In each episode, The Launch sees unsigned emerging artists mentored as they create a new original song in two days. The series is produced by Borchetta of Big Machine Label Group, Paul Franklin of Eureka, and Bell Media, in partnership with Insight Productions.
