NEW YORK -- Kung fu action film "Shaolin Girl," by Katsuyuki Motohiro, has sold into several major Asian territories, producer Fuji Television's Motion Picture Department said Monday in Tokyo.

Produced by Stephen Chow and starring Kou Shibazaki ("Sinking of Japan"), "Shaolin" sold to Edko Films for Hong Kong, San-Byte Hong Kong for Taiwan, Festive Films for Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei, and to Sahamongkol Film International for Thailand.

Gaga hopes to finalize deals for remaining territories at Cannes, Fuji said.

"Shaolin" also stars Toru Nakamura, Yosuke Eguchi, comedian Takashi Okamura, Chinese actress Kitty Zhang, and Hong Kong comics Lam Chi Chung and Kai Man Tin.

Japanese distributor Toho projects the film will earn 2 billion yen ($20 million) at the boxoffice in Japan, where it opened Saturday on 319 screens.
