Sharon Stone honored in the Hamptons

Will receive film festival's acting award

The 2009 Hamptons International Film Festival, which runs from Oct. 8-12, will honor Sharon Stone with its Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award.

The actress will also participate in the festival's Breakthrough Performers Program, pairing the Rising Stars Program, spotlighting performers from North America, with the Shooting Stars initiative, focusing on actors from Europe.

Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, Emma Stone and Rooney Mara will represent North America, while Samuli Vauramo, Cyron Melville and Alba Rohrwacher will be the flag-bearers for Europe.

Stone will guide the actors through a mentoring brunch as well as accompany them to the Breakthrough Performers Gala Reception, a public symposium and a program called "A Conversation With ...."

Her tremendous contribution to the world o f film has captivated and entertained us throughout the years," said Lina Todd, Breakthrough Performers program director. "Having Ms. Stone mentor our Breakthrough Performers Program is sure to be one of the highlights of the festival as we continue our rewarding partnership with the European Film Promotion."

Shooting Stars is EFP´s initiative for Europe´s best young actors chosen annually by a jury of industry professionals. The showcase kicks off at the Berlin International Film Festival and spotlights some of the 10 selected talents and their films during the year at other film festivals.
