'Sherlock' to sponsor 'Family Guy' special

Warner Bros. movie replaces Microsoft

Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming feature "Sherlock Holmes" has stepped in as the new sponsor for Fox's upcoming "Family Guy" variety special.

The Guy Ritchie-directed film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law replaces Microsoft, which pulled out earlier this week after the software company's executives watched the taping of "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show."

The special, set to air Nov. 8 during Fox's Sunday animated block, will feature a sneak peek at "Sherlock Holmes," which opens Christmas Day.

Fox made the announcement Saturday during the preshow of Game 3 of the World Series.

Instead of traditional commercials, the special was to feature creative promotion of Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 7, woven into the show's content.
