Sherri Shepherd to Join Broadway's 'Cinderella'
UPDATED: The outgoing 'View' host will make her debut on the Great White Way opposite new star Keke Palmer.
On the glass-slippered heels of Monday's news that Keke Palmer would be playing Cinderella in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway, Sherri Shepherd announced Tuesday that she would be joining the show as Palmer's character's evil stepmother, Madame.
After pulling out a pair of glass slippers, Shepherd made the announcement on Tuesday's The View, which she's set to exit, revealing that the stage show will mark her Broadway debut.
Shepherd had said that she would reveal her next project on The View after confirming she would be leaving the ABC daytime show when her contract ends. Palmer and Shepherd will make their Cinderella debuts on Sept. 9, with both becoming the first African-American actresses to play their roles in the Broadway production.
Shepherd's final episode of The View will air this Friday, according to the press release about her Cinderella role.
Fellow outgoing host Jenny McCarthy recently began a weekly SiriusXM talk show.
Shepherd is also co-starring with Chris Rock, Kevin Hart and J.B. Smoove in their new comedy film set to premiere at this year's Toronto Film Festival. She has also joined the cast of Universal's Ride Along 2, starring Hart and Ice Cube.
Shepherd is repped by ICM Partners and Darris Hatch Management.
