Shetty new director Dis-ABC India

NEW DELHI -- Disney-ABC International Television (Asia Pacific) on Monday announced the appointment of Swati Shetty as director of India, effective next month.

Shetty will be responsible for Disney-ABC International Television's TV distribution business across all platforms in India. She previously was Disney Channel associate director of advertising sales.

The announcement was made by Greg Johnson, Disney-ABC International Television's vp sales for Asia Pacific.

Shetty, based in Mumbai, replaces Amit Malhotra, who was promoted in June as regional sales director, Pan-Asia, India and Singapore. Shetty will report to Hong Kong-based Malhotra as well as the managing director for the Walt Disney Co. (India). That role is being overseen by Andy Bird, president of Walt Disney International. Previous WDCI managing director Rajat Gupta quit in March, and his replacement has yet to be announced.

"Swati's strong sales experience combined with her deep understanding of the Indian television market will be integral to the continued growth of our distribution business in India, a key strategic market for the company," Johnson said in a statement.

Disney-ABC International Television (Asia Pacific) is the international television distribution arm of the Walt Disney Co. and licenses feature films, network television series (including "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost"), ABC news programming and other content across various platforms.
