Shirley MacLaine Set for Life Achievement Award From AARP
The actress will receive top honors from AARP The Magazine at the publication's Movies for Grownups awards ceremony Feb. 4 in Beverly Hills.
Shirley MacLaine will soon see her name added to a list that includes Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro.
The 84-year-old actress has been confirmed to receive AARP The Magazine’s 2018 Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award on Feb. 4 in Beverly Hills. And she says she's quite happy about it. “The award means a lot to me personally because AARP was there when I began,” said MacLaine in a statement. “Many thanks to AARP for bestowing this award.”
She will be feted at the event where prizes including for best actor, actress, director and more will be doled out. The Movies for Grownups Awards will be broadcast for the second consecutive year on PBS, with this installment premiering Feb. 15. Consumer Cellular is the presenting sponsor, with event proceeds set to benefit AARP Foundation.
It's far from MacLaine’s first trophy. The legendary actress has been seen in more than 50 films and her accolades include an Academy Award (Terms of Endearment), seven Golden Globe Awards including the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement, and six Emmy nominations. Her credits include Steel Magnolias, Postcards From the Edge, In Her Shoes and Rumor Has It. MacLaine also is an author of 10 international best-sellers, including Sage-ing While Age-ing and the New York Times best-seller, I’m Over All That: And Other Confessions.
