'Shiva Baby' Team Sets Comedy 'Bottoms' With Orion Pictures, Brownstone Productions (Exclusive)

'Bottoms' follows two unpopular queer girls who start a fight club to have sex before their high school graduation.

Emma Seligman and Rachel Sennott, the creative team behind the well-reviewed indie Shiva Baby, have set their next feature.

Seligman and Sennott will co-write high school sex comedy Bottoms for MGM's Orion Pictures, with Seligman directing and Sennott starring. Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman's Brownstone Productions is set to produce.

Bottoms follows two unpopular queer girls who start a fight club to have sex before their high school graduation.

Banks, Handelman and Alison Small will produce for Brownstone.

Headed by Alana Mayo, Orion was relaunched by MGM with the intent to focus on features from underrepresented voices and authentic storytelling in film that amplifies underserved voices, both on- and offscreen. Its slate includes Billy Porter’s directorial debut What If? and an adaption of novel Women Talking that has Frances McDormand set to star and produce.

Seligman is represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Sennott, who can also be seen in ABC comedy Call Your Mother,  is represented by WME and Odenkirk Provissiero.

Brownstone Productions, repped by UTA, Untitled Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham, has a features slate that includes Universal projects Cocaine Bear and Invisible Woman, with Banks attached to direct both,and a feature adaptation of The Magic School Bus, where she is set to star as Ms. Frizzle.
