ShowEast humanitarian nod to Woods

MGM distribution president to be honored Oct. 16

MGM distribution president Clark Woods will be honored with the Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award at ShowEast 2008.

Woods will be feated at an awards gala set to close the confab Oct. 16. ShowEast begins Oct. 13 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

"It is absolutely amazing to think that in addition to providing oversight of all aspects of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's expansion into theatrical distribution in North America, (Woods) has the time and drive to champion charitable and philanthropic causes within the industry," ShowEast co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said. "This is an honor that is truly deserved."

Woods joined MGM in his current role in March 2006. Before that he was exec vp distribution at Paramount, where he worked for more than 25 years.

A regular volunteer with several industry charities, Woods is a past president of the Variety Club of Southern California, Tent 25, and a member of the Variety Lifeline board. He also is treasurer of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers and vp of Variety Club International.

Shari Redstone received the ShowEast humanitarian award last year.
