ShowEast nod to Cinemark's Higgins

Recognized for achievement in international exhibition

Cinemark International vp Ken Higgins will be honored at ShowEast 2008 with an award for achievement in international exhibition.

Higgins, who helped Cinemark chart its course into Latin America and international exhibition in 1991, will be feted Oct. 13. That's ShowEast's opening day, which will be devoted to an international program of events.

ShowEast is set to run Oct. 13-16 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

"ShowEast is thrilled to recognize such an important and highly regarded executive of the international exhibition community," ShowEast co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said. "At Cinemark, Higgins has played a key role in Cinemark becoming the global company it is today."

After Cinemark launched its international expansion, Higgins was appointed president of Cinemark Mexico and helped the circuit expand into Chile in 1993. In 1996, Higgins was named vp and film head at Cinemark International.

Cinemark operates 121 theaters with 1,011 screens in 12 countries.

Past recipients of ShowEast's international exhibition award include last year's honoree, Alejandro Ramirez Magana of Cinepolis.
