Simonds, Sony parenting Yang's 'White Dad' pitch
EmptySony Pictures has picked up "White Dad," a comedy pitch from scribe Alan Yang. Robert Simonds is attached to produce.
The acquisition was won in a competitive environment.
The comedy's plot is being kept under wraps. Elizabeth Cantillon and Adam Milano will oversee the project for the studio.
Simonds, a veteran comedy producer with such movies as "Big Daddy" and "Cheaper by the Dozen" under his belt, has "The Pink Panther 2" in the can and is working on a remake of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."
A former Harvard Lampoon writer, Yang recently inked a deal to write on the upcoming NBC spinoff of "The Office" starring Amy Poehler. His credits also include "The IT Crowd."
Yang is repped by WMA and attorney Jeff Frankel. (partialdiff)
