Singapore's Innoform acquires distributor Alliance

SINGAPORE -- Singapore video distributor and "edutainment" specialist InnoForm Media on Monday acquired Alliance Entertainment, the leading local video distributor of many Hollywood home entertainment labels, including Warner Home Video, 20th Century Fox and New Line Cinema.

Alliance Entertainment is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of InnoForm Media Private Ltd. No financial details were released, but the company stated that the acquisition is in line with its strategy of building an extensive portfolio of entertainment products.

With regional offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, InnoForm Media handles film and TV distribution for such Asian entertainment companies as MBC Prods., CJ Entertainment, Shochiku Co., Sahamongkolfilm International and Fortune Star.

As a film investor, co-producer and distributor, InnoForm handled four of the 10 top-grossing Asian films in Singapore last year. This year, it will distribute two Hong Kong films: "Missing," directed by Tsui Hark, and "Three Kingdoms," starring Andy Lau and Maggie Q.

While Tan Poh Lam, managing director of Alliance Entertainment, will continue to serve as CEO of the subsidiary, InnoForm announced a reorganization of its management team, including the appointment of Angeline Ang as president and Lynne Loi as senior vp program acquisitions and distribution.
