Singh named chairman of Sony TV India

NEW DELHI -- Sony Entertainment Television India on Friday announced the appointment of Man Jit Singh as chairman of the board. He replaces Michael Grindon, president of Sony Pictures Television International.

"Our operations in India have grown significantly over the years and we feel it's time to strengthen our board of directors with the appointment of qualified, experienced Indian executives such as Man Jit Singh," said Grindon, who will remain on the board. "As non-executive chairman, Man Jit's responsibilities include managing board affairs and working with current SET India management to refine our strategic growth plan for the company. With his wealth of experience, I'm pleased to offer him my seat as chairman of the board of SET India, and to serve as a board member under his able guidance."

Grindon has chaired the SET India Board since SPTI and its joint venture partners launched SET India in 1995 with flagship channel Sony Entertainment Television.

Added SET India CEO Kunal Dasgupta: "We are pleased to welcome Man Jit to the board of directors and look forward to collaborating with him in paving the way for SET India's future growth."

Singh joins the SET India board from Diogenes Capital, a private equity fund in Los Angeles.
