The rising actor also appears in MGM and Warner Bros.' upcoming 'The Sun Is Also a Star.'

Single Parents' Jake Choi has signed with Paradigm, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He was previously with DDO Artists Agency.

The actor plays fan favorite Miggy on the ABC freshman comedy, which also stars Taran Killam, Leighton Meester, Kimrie Lewis and Brad Garrett. It is his first series regular role after recurring on HBO's Succession last summer and making guest spots on Comedy Central's Broad City and CBS' Hawaii Five-0, among other credits. His first big break was appearing opposite Amy Poehler in a 2013 Super Bowl ad for Best Buy.

The Queens native will soon be seen on the big screen in MGM and Warner Bros.' The Sun Is Also a Star, which is set to premiere May 17. The adaptation of Nicola Yoon's New York Times best-selling interracial YA romance stars Yara Shahidi and Riverdale's Charles Melton as two teens who fall in love in a day. Choi, who in the film plays the black sheep older brother of Melton's character, also appears in Justin Chon's Ms. Purple, which premiered in January at Sundance and is one of the centerpiece films of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, which starts Thursday and runs through May 10 in downtown Los Angeles.

Since his first lead role, in the 2015 indie gay romantic dramedy Front Cover (critic Sheri Linden praised his performance as "especially good" and "deftly conveyed" in THR's review), Choi has been a vocal proponent of representation and civil rights. The actor identifies as sexually fluid and shared the March cover of The Advocate with fellow out Asian actors Nico Santos and Vincent Rodriguez III. He will receive the Human Rights Campaign's Visibility Award on June 1 in Columbus, Ohio.

Choi continues to be repped by Authentic.
