Six join romantic comedy 'Chalet Girl'

Tara Dakides, Bill Nighy, Christine Baranski among cast

BERLIN -- Felicity Jones, Ed Westwick, Tamsin Egerton, Christine Baranski and Bill Nighy, along with professional snowboarder Tara Dakides, are lined up to star in the romantic comedy "The Chalet Girl," directed by Phil Traill.

The project, written by Tom Williams and produced by Pippa Cross and Harriet Rees, appears on the slate of the new U.K. sales joint venture between Metropolis International Sales and Timeless Films, which is making its EFM debut this year.

Billed as a romantic comedy, the story details the story of a young girl from a working class suburb who lands a job in an ultra-glam ski resort, where she's totally out of her depth until she discovers her natural snowboarding genius -- and the boss's gorgeous son.

Set up by market veterans Ralph Kamp and Tim Smith, the joint venture sales and finance labels combine the sales and financing expertise of the duo.

Metropolis aims to source, sell and finance all genres for adult audiences while Timeless is focused on developing kid-friendly fare.

Metropolis also is debuting director Anthony Hoffman's "Taxi Wars" starring Djimon Hounsou, Forest Whitaker and Ray Winstone to buyers here.

More Berlin coverage

Produced by Lucas Foster ("Law Abiding Citizen") and Brian LaRoda, "Taxi Wars" is a political action thriller about a former member of the military wing of South Africa's anti-apartheid movement who is hired to kill the warring leaders of the country's longstanding taxi cab wars.

Timeless is hosting the market premiere of the recently completed "Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back," screening in 3D and due for release in the U.S. by 20th Century Fox in the summer.
