Six taking up Residence in Cannes


PARIS -- Director Sebastien Lifshitz and his jury have chosen six filmmakers for the 15th annual session of the Cinefondation's Residence du Festival, the Festival de Cannes announced Wednesday.

The Residence program, inaugurated in 2000 by the Cinefondation, invites foreign cineastes to Cannes and assists them in the writing and development of their feature films.

The four female directors and two male directors chosen this year include: Iranian Emily Atef ("Kill Me"), Chinese Xialo Guo ("UFO In Her Eyes"), Swedish Pia Marais ("The Unpolished"), Israeli Hagar Ben Asher ("Tama"), Mexican Ruben Imaz Castro ("The Tourists") and Barnwell Elliott from the U.S. ("Bound").
