Ski tapped as president of Chum Radio

TORONTO ? Canadian broadcaster Chum Ltd. on Thursday promoted Paul Ski to president of Chum Radio, its 33-strong radio station network nationwide.  Ski, most recently executive vp of radio at Chum Ltd., is being promoted after rival media giant Bell Globemedia in July successfully bid CAN$1.4 billion for Toronto-based Chum, which also owns and operates 12 free, over-the-air TV stations, including flagship Citytv channels, and 21 specialty channels. A 30-year veteran at Chum, Ski joined the company in 1972 at CFRA Ottawa before going on to work at radio stations in Vancouver and Halifax. Bell Globemedia, which operates the CTV national TV network, has complementary conventional and specialty TV channels, but is gaining first-time radio stations as part of the Chum deal.
