Sky Cinema going HD 24/7

ROME -- Italy's first high-definition television broadcaster will begin broadcasting 24 hours a day on Tuesday.

News Corp. subsidiary Sky Italia said it will extend its high-definition film program at Sky Cinema HD from its previous schedule of 16 hours of films per day, adding four new films per day to the schedule. The broadcaster said it will also move to an exclusively high-definition film format in lieu of a mix that featured some low-definition selections.

Sky Italia announced the plans last month as part of its celebration of one-year anniversary for Sky Cinema HD, but no start date was announced at the time.
